Scientific-technical goals:
  • To investigate and intervene in the design, development and evaluation of pedagogical practices towards the arts and culture, towards a more just social construction, at different ages and social contexts, as well as formal and informal educational environments.
  • To investigate in depth the foundations on which art builds knowledge through artistic thought and the artistic act, in the different forms of expression.
  • Develop educational research methodologies based on the arts from an interdisciplinary perspective. Advise on and conduct training activities related to the arts and culture in coordination with social agents, collectives, NGOs, associations, cultural spaces, CEFIRE (Teacher Training Centers), and other organizations.
  • Advise and carry out training activities on arts and culture in coordination with social agents, collectives, NGOs, associations, cultural spaces, CEFIRE and other organizations.
  • Promote the production of undergraduate theses, master's theses and doctoral dissertations, generate knowledge (teaching content, interventions at conferences, publications) and transfer (conferences, congresses, artistic exhibitions...) on arts and culture education towards a more just social construction.
  • To address socio-educational research problems related to the arts and culture from the synergies produced by different areas of knowledge.
 
Research lines:
  • Development and innovation of pedagogical proposals with didactic methods specific to the arts and culture..Development and innovation in the design of materials and pedagogical proposals using teaching methods specific to the arts and culture, in Primary, Secondary, and University Education, in public spaces (through Art-Based Public Pedagogy), and in cultural spaces.
  • Artistic procedures for education, cultural mediation and social awareness..Artistic processes for education, cultural mediation, and social awareness. Developed through Artivism, public art, and participatory art. Live arts (performing arts, action art, happenings, performance art, dance, theater, and circus).
  • Art Based Research Methodologies.Exploration of new methods belonging to Art-based Research methodologies.
  • Critical analysis of the visual culture and visual pedagogies..Content analysis, research based on images of products belonging to visual culture (cinema, television, video games, design, marketing, etc.) from a critical perspective as a proposal for reviewing cultural content from a perspective of social justice and on the way in which images are defined as pedagogical media in essence.
  • Identity, gender studies and metaphors of otherness in the arts and culture..Studies, critical analyses, and content analysis on issues related to identity, gender studies, and metaphors of otherness underlying artistic and cultural manifestations.
  • Experiences of socio-educational action for social justice through the arts..Design, development, and evaluation of socio-educational action experiences for social justice through the arts.
  • Analysis of artistic thought and art as a form of knowledge construction..Develop an in-depth analysis of the ways in which art constructs knowledge and articulates itself as an autonomous form of knowledge. Investigate how the artistic act constitutes artistic thought.
  • Initial and permanent teacher training towards art and culture.Training of future teachers and active teaching staff in both formal and informal educational settings
