The Institute of Social Welfare Policy of the University of Valencia (Polibienestar) takes part in the European research Project ASSEHS (‘Activation of Stratification Strategies and Results of the Interventions on frail patients of Healthcare Services’) for the definition and activation of Stratification Strategies, which may enable the implementation of health intervention protocols on chronic Patients.

The Project ASSEHS is financed by the European Commission with over 1,3 million €, under the HEALTH Programme whose aim is to support projects that pursue to improve the health of the European citizens. The HEALTH Programme encourages one of the priority research lines at European level, the European Innovation Partnership for active and healthy ageing.

The project is coordinated by Kronikgune (Research Center on chronicity belonging to the Department of Health of the Basque Country Government) and the participants are public entities as the Research Institute Polibienestar of the University of Valencia, Ares (Regional Healthcare Agency of Puglia), the University Hospital of Montpellier (France), Osakidetza (Public Health Care System of the Basque Country) and Ticsalut (Foundation belonging to the Department of Health of the Catalunya Government) and private entities as Telbios Spa (Italy) y Philips Research (the Nederlands).

The main objective of the Project is to activate real life stratification strategies on the ground and evaluate the results of their deployment in different European Health Services, focusing on the benefits and improvements entailed by its utilization for cases of complex frail elderly patients. The project also aims to address other key issues of the use of these stratification tools such as the impact on the organizational structure or the cost-effectiveness, at different levels (health management, policy making and clinical practice). Polibienestar leads the evaluation of the project and it will be in charge of the evaluation of the implementation of the stratification strategies in four European health systems.

Polibienestar is a research institute of the University of Valencia specialized in the field of social policies, both in basic and applied research, as well as in innovation, social technology, technical advice and professional training.
