Professor José María Martín Moreno receives the Stampar Medal of merit in Public Health

José María Martín Moreno, Professor of preventive medicine and public health at the University of Valencia, receives the 14 November the Stampar Medal of merit in Public Health. The ceremony is made in the context of the sixth European Conference on Public Health held in Brussels.

Martín Moreno is the coordinator of the Quality Control Unit at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia (Clinical University Hospital of Valencia); senior associate professor in the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore (U.S), and adviser of the Regional Office of the World Health Organization in the field of chronic diseases, health systems and public health.

The Stampar medal is reserved for people who had dedicated their lives to public health. Martín Moreno’s career follows this profile, including the prevention of epidemics, of non-contagious chronic diseases, cancer control, nutrition and health policies articulated through health systems management.

Martín Moreno’s candidacy (who will also join the Real Academia de Medicina de la Comunidad Valenciana the 21 November) was proposed by the Board of Directors of the Valencian School for Health Studies, with the support of the Valencian Department for Health.
