
The Vice-Principal of Culture and Equality, through the Equality Unit, has put into operation the process of making the II Equality Plan for a period of four years (2013-2014). The I Equality Plan of the University of Valencia with 118 actions, has been in force during three years (2010-2012) and it has made posible that the equality was not only formal, but more real in the academic institution.
Rosario Fernández-Coronado and María Eugenia González, professors of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Valencia, have made the assessment report of the I Equality Plan and they have conclude that even being high the degree of achievement of the goals and action lines, there also are areas such as women in teaching, researching and partticipation in the decision and goverment authorities which are far from the balance.
At the same time and within the same department, professor Fàtima Perelló has made an update of the diagnosis of the situation between women and men in the University of Valencia that makes clear the remaining of gender asymmetries in the academic and research group as well as in the administration and service staff and the students.
The University of Valencia mantains a clear commitment with the equality policies, such as the basic strategies for fighting agains discrimination and gender inequality, and introduces the first draft of the II Equality Plan.
