The University of Valencia will be on the 33rd Motserrat's Chamber Music International Week

The University of Valencia, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participatio, and Montserrat's city council (Ribera Alta) organise, in colaboration with Imelsa (Valencia's provincial council), the first conferences about territoral music and development, framed in the 33rd Montserrat's Chamber Music International Week (SIMC). On 22, 23 and 26 July, several specialist of the University will analise music from an economical, historical and educational point of view.

Montserrat's SIMC first edition was hold in 1981 as a result of the roots and connection that Monstserrat has always had with the music through the Music Band, the Municipal School of Music and the mobile Chair for violin and cello. It is the oldest Valencian festival of classical music outdoors and one of the most important of our territory because of its great tradition.

The University of Valecnia had the oportunity of taking part in this 33rd Montserrat's SIMC, thanks to the colaboration agreement signed with the Montserrat's city council, which has contributed in this occasion, the holding of three lectures tought by professors of the University who will analise music from different points of view.

Montserrat's Cultural Centre will host on 22, 23 and 26 July, the lectures of Pau Rausell (Department of Applied Ecomics), Vicente Galbis and Julio Hurtado (Department of Teaching of Musical, Visual and Corporal Expression). These experts will think about the relation among the musical activity, the local music, the training of the citizens and the history.

Those people interested in music, not only from Montserrat but from nearby cities, will enjoy this cicle of lectures that complement the Chamber Music Internation Week, directed to music professionals and public in general.

With this initiative the University of Valencia tries to promote the knowledge of musical culture and its relations with other disciplines, such as the local economy or the teaching  through the contribuition of its specialist in this matter; and, moreover, to make patent its recognition to the effort for the spreading and teaching of the cultural music in the Valencian local area.
