The Vives Network has open enrollment for the course 'XarxaMOOC: Introduction to specialitsed language at the univeristies speaking Catalan. Digital tools for future students of the Vives Network ', which is designed MOOC format (open, massive and online). Coordinated by the University of Alicante, courses start from October and will run for the first quarter of the 2013-2014 school year.
XarxaMOOC targets students in the first years of university the future students of the Network and Erasmus students who come to study in the Catalan-speaking territories, as well as to students of foreign assistantships and Catalan courses of the universities outside the linguistic domain with teaching of Catalan. By extension, and taking into account that it will be an open course, you can register any person who wants to know the culture of the Catalan language. The only condition to enroll will be having a Google account, since the content will be channeled through Youtube, Google Drive and Google+. Furthermore, as complementary tools, language resources will be worked (dictionaries, translators and editors) and the use of blogs or tools such as Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter, etc..
The initiative has the support of the Chair for Scientific Dissemination UCC+i of the University of Valencia, in addition to the following institutions: the Academia Valenciana de la Llengua, Federació Escola Valenciana, Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC), Dirección General de Política Lingüística de la Generalitat de Catalunya, el TERMCAT and the University of Naples “L'Orientale” among others.
The course XarxaMOOC links learning Catalan to new technologies and the internationalization of universities in the Vives Network. Its aim is to provide enrollees a first contact with the specialized language and terminology in Catalan in their university studies and also provide an overview of the most representative cultural elements (educational system, geography and tourism, language, media communication, etc.) of the Vives region. The contents are structured using video subtitled in Catalan, Spanish, English, French and Italian.
There are notes on the history of the MOOCthe different models at the course blog, the closest referents (eg uniMOOC aemprende, Idesweb or Preparing for C1 level (sufficiency of Valencia) and the main platforms where finding MOOC such as Coursera, Udacity, MITX, edx, MiriadaX, UNED COMA, etc.. Additionally, you can find reviews about some MOOC that will be added to the repository of XarxaMOOC. And which is more important, there will be monitor the process XarxaMOOC building, with seminars and reports on progress on the work schedule.
