In some cases, admission to doctoral programmes may include the requirement to enrol in and successfully complete specific complementary training courses.

Complementary courses are subjects that usually form part of official master's degree programmes related to the PhD, which the CAPD has considered necessary to complete the candidate's minimum training for access to the PhD.

In the event that complementary training must be taken, this will be indicated in the notification of admission and in the list of admission results. In these cases, the subjects must be enrolled and taken during the first year of studies. The PhD self-enrolment application will show the required complementary courses, so it will not be necessary to carry out any additional admission procedure for the complementary courses.
