Academic, scientific or professional interest: The programme responds to a growing social demand for more rigorous knowledge on scientific activity and its social and cultural consequences. The important role of science, technology and medicine in contemporary societies makes it necessary to investigate the social and cultural meaning of such activities and their relationship with society as a whole. The masters intends to tackle these questions from the dual perspective of historical research on science and the studies on science communication and dissemination. The goal is to train professionals and researchers with critical skills and refined and updated methods of analysis, for them to work and research in areas related with history of science, technology and medicine, science communication and dissemination, scientific information management, and the preservation of science's cultural heritage.
