This inclusive festival, which has been held since 2016, with the intention of promoting active ageing, encouraging the elderly to practice physical activity and raising awareness of the importance of moving, took place on Friday 28 April at the sports facilities of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences of the Universitat de València.

“This year we have had 440 participants, from other towns and from the city of Valencia, who came to mingle with young people, socialise, exercise... we have had to increase the number of workshops and distribute the large number of participants according to their preferences and motor skills”, explains Cristina Blasco, director of UIRFIDE.

The audience was able to enjoy merengue, tai chi and yoga classes, as well as stretching for people with reduced mobility, functional training... And, at the end of the festival, it was time for line dancing, one of the most dynamic and popular activities for the elderly, when all participants join together on the central dance floor to perform this line dance.

In short, this festival aims to be an antidote to a sedentary lifestyle, an inclusive and intergenerational festival for students to learn to work with the elderly and for them to practice physical and sports activities in groups, socialise and have fun.
