The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: La actividad investigadora de este grupo se centra, fundamentalmente, en el estudio termodinámico de mezclas cuya separación tiene interés industrial, llevando a cabo trabajos sobre: - Determinación de propiedades de transporte (densidad y viscosidad fundamentalmente) de mezclas de interés industrial. - Determinación experimental y modelización de datos de equilibrio de fases. - Selección de disolventes con reducido impacto ambiental, entre los que destacan los líquidos iónicos, para su utilización en procesos de destilación especial (extractiva y azeotrópica) y extracción líquido-líquido. - Realización de pruebas de destilación en planta piloto y semipiloto.

Research lines: - Transport Properties.Experimental determination and theoretical estimation of thermodynamic and transport properties of mixtures containing electrolytes (salts and ionic liquids).
- Phase equilibria.Experimental determination, theoretical estimation and correlation of liquid-vapor and liquid-liquid equilibrium data of systems of industrial interest. Determination of parameters of thermodynamic models. Obtaining of distillation-curve maps in ternary systems.
- Special distillation processes.Pilot- or laboratory-scale experimental study of special distillation processes (extractive distillation and azeotropic distillation). Rigorous determination of azeotropic points (pressure, temperature and composition).
