The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: Art History Studies of the contemporary world: Image and Representation; Space and Memory; Visibility and Modernity; Gender and Identity; Cinema and Visual Culture. We investigate aspects related to individual, collective and serial human representation and its relationship with artistic literature. We analyze artistic circumstances from transversal perspectives: art-science relations, the construction of the modern city, the democratization of public space, the birth and influence of spaces of artistic and cultural sociability, artistic institutions, official guidelines, the reception of art and the discovery of artistic manifestations by the public, as well as the foreign gaze of foreign travelers. Our analysis incorporates the gender perspective in the artistic historical narrative, inquiring about the role of women in the field of art. As well as photography and cinema, essential languages of contemporary visual culture; and the study of art in the construction of collective, plural and diverse memory (heritage, collections and museums).
