The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity:

The group is made up of teaching staff from the Prosthodontics and Occlusion Teaching Unit of the Stomatology and Physiology area of knowledge at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Valencia. The group is based on experimental and clinical studies applied to dental prosthesis, covering its different fields in fixed and removable prostheses on natural teeth and implants, from the study of new materials, new technologies, aesthetic dentistry (whitening, stain treatment) and occlusal and sleep disorders.

  • Fixed prosthesis on natural tooth. Analysis of new materials under development and new technologies applied in this field..In vitro studies of the mechanical and biological properties of new materials (zirconia, hybrid ceramics, polymers etc.) and applied technologies (CAD-M, scanner etc.)Clinical studies of restorations carried out with these materials and BOPT technique. Preparation of a chewing machine.
  • Removable prosthesis and overdentures in natural teeth and implants. Analysis of new materials and new technologies applied in this field..In vitro studies of the new materials for the preparation of prostheses with digital technology are developed. Clinical studies in users of removable prostheses made using digital technology, as well as the behaviour of different retention systems for overdentures.
  • Implant prostheses. Application of new technology for the study of osseointegration, diagnosis and preparation of restorations..Analysis of techniques based on digital imaging and their applications in implantology. Development of new materials and implant designs. Experimental and clinical behavioural studies of different implant designs/connections/restorations. Metal corrosion.
  • Temporomandibular Dysfunction and Occlusion.Evaluation of the efficacy of Mandibular Advancement Devices (MADs) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snorers. Study of occlusal changes in patients with MADs. TMJ pathologies. Development and manufacture of occlusal splints with new technologies.
  • Esthetic Dentistry. Minimally invasive dentistry. Clinical study of tooth color. Reconstruction of the damaged, bleached, eroded tooth..Experimental and clinical studies of the different materials and techniques used for tooth whitening. In vitro analysis and clinical studies of new materials for the treatment of damaged teeth and the removal of stains and discoloration.
