The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: The Sustainable Organic Chemistry Research Group of the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) aims to develop new chemical reactions using more sustainable materials, catalysis and visible light to obtain complex molecules based on carbon and materials derived from them. The group specifically focuses on the development of chemical synthesis methods that improve conventional methods by directly connecting accessible materials and advanced products without synthetic intermediates. To this end, the group has recently explored new coupling reactions using organometallic reagents, asymmetric homogeneous catalysis, process scaling (up to 100 g), decarboxylative radical reactions using visible light and synthesis of organic boron compounds.

Research lines: - Organic Synthesis with Redox-Active Carbenes.Carbenes are very reactive intermediates based on carbon bonded to only two atoms that are compressibly unstable. The reactivity of carbenes, in which one of the groups is a pioneer in radicals, is explored, as well as the chemistry of their by-products in radical reactions.
