The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research and Scientific Policies. Description of research activity: The Research Group in Sociology and Social Anthropology (UV) develops an interdisciplinary agenda aimed at understanding contemporary social transformations through sociological and anthropological approaches. Its lines of research combine the analysis of social processes, structures, and institutions (public policies, sexualities, health, education, inequalities, care work, the labor market, etc.) with the study of cultures, practices, and meanings in local and transnational contexts. The group also focuses on the digitalization processes of contemporary societies, the production of subjectivities, and the dynamics of gender, youth, and social participation. Methodologically, it integrates qualitative research (interviews, ethnography, discourse analysis) and quantitative research, as well as mixed methods, with a commitment to knowledge transfer: generating evidence for the design of interventions, evaluating programs, and advising institutions and social actors.

Scientific-technical goals: - To generate rigorous sociological and anthropological knowledge about contemporary social transformations, articulating qualitative and quantitative analyses of structures, institutions, and everyday practices to understand inequalities, cultural changes, and reconfigurations of work and social life, with a focus on transferring this knowledge to public policy, organizations, and social debate.
To analyze processes of social change linked to the labor market, digitalization/platformization, education, and social policies, identifying mechanisms of production and reproduction of inequalities (class, gender, generation, territory) and their effects on life trajectories, subjectivities, and social conflicts.
To investigate, from ethnographic and comparative approaches, how identities, values, practices, and forms of coexistence are configured in contemporary societies (urban and transnational contexts), considering cultural diversity, migration, technologies, and experiences of inequality in everyday life.
Research lines: - Social anthropology of contemporary societies.This research line focuses on the anthropological analysis of contemporary societies, paying attention to cultural diversity, ways of life, and the transformations of everyday life in urban and transnational contexts. It examines practices, values, and identities, as well as their links to inequalities, migration, the environment, gender, generation, and technologies. It prioritizes ethnographic and comparative approaches to understand how meanings and social relations are produced in scenarios of accelerated change.
