The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research and Scientific Policies. Description of research activity:
The Research Group Scientific Evidence in Orthodontics (UV) develops research focused on the generation, analysis, and application of scientific evidence in the fields of malocclusion epidemiology and dentofacial anomalies, three-dimensional imaging analysis using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and 3D intraoral scanners, as well as the study of craniofacial morphology, dentofacial growth and development, and the digital planning of orthodontic treatments. The group also researches the interactions between orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and sleep-related breathing disorders, particularly obstructive sleep apnea, evaluating their impact on patients¿ function, health, and quality of life, thereby contributing to the advancement of evidence-based dentistry and orthodontics. The group stands out for its strong scientific track record, leadership, and clear specialization in areas of high clinical relevance. Its main strength lies in the combination of applied research and direct translation into clinical practice.   • Orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and sleep apnea..This research line focuses on the study of the relationship between dentoskeletal and craniofacial alterations, orthodontic treatments and orthognathic surgery, and their impact on the upper airway and obstructive sleep apnea, with the aim of optimizing diagnosis and therapeutic planning from a functional and interdisciplinary approach.
