Four students in the Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) program at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia, coordinated by Professor Virgilio Pérez, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, have once again placed the University of Valencia on the podium at the Interuniversity Hackathon on financial planning organized by Fundación MAPFRE.
The event, held at Feria Valencia as part of Forinvest 2026, brought together teams from different universities to work on innovative proposals aimed at raising social awareness regarding financial planning.
The team from the University of Valencia, consisting of Rocío Ortega Aznar, Melanie Sánchez Taylor, Natalia Vento Badía, and Elena Vicente Carrasco, presented a proposal focused on the need to promote financial education and planning from an early age.
During their presentation, the students structured their proposal around a key word: AWAKEN. With this message, they sought to draw young people’s attention to the importance of becoming aware, as early as possible, of the need to plan their financial future.
Their analysis was based on a clear demographic reality: life expectancy continues to rise while the birth rate declines, posing significant challenges for pension systems and financial sustainability.
