Science Park of the University of Valencia.

The conference is part of the Globaltech project, promoted by the Science Park Foundation of the University of Valencia and the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society to promote businesses and projects in the Valencian innovative ecosystem.

Collaborative relationships are key in the development of R + D + i projects, through the promotion of public-private cooperation in research and innovation. Consortia and strategic alliances, essential instruments to make collaboration between university and business possible, will be the focus of the conference that the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV) will hold on November 4, dedicated to analysing from a practical point of view these two growing figures in the impulse of the transfer of knowledge towards the productive fabric.

Under the title “Consortia and strategic alliances in the field of research and innovation: Presentation of cases and good practices”, the meeting, with a face-to-face and online format that will bring together around fifteen representatives and leaders of prominent consortiums of R + D + i and specialists in the field of promoting and developing the innovative ecosystem, will be an opportunity to analyse success stories and share experiences and good practices in the generation, implementation and management of these university-business collaboration strategies in academic and innovative environments.

As a complement to the conference “The internationalisation of research and innovation through consortia and strategic alliances”, held in 2020 to offer an overview of the generation of these collaborative and mutual relations, this year’s event “seeks to bring the researchers and companies to the direct experiences of the managers of research and innovation consortia, and learn from the lessons learned in the framework of these processes, in addition to sharing the good practices developed in the management of this type of consortium and reflecting on its application in practice”, explains Guillermo Palao, professor of Private International Law at the University of Valencia and member of GI + dPI (UVEG’s R&D Group on Intellectual and Industrial Property), who coordinates the conference together with Jesús Olavarría, professor of Commercial Law and founder and member of GI + dPI; Eva Alcaraz, head of the Legal Area of the FPCUV; and Lola Blanco, head of the UV Contracted R&D Section.

With the aim of promoting a real approach to collaborative figures such as consortia so that researchers and companies understand their scope and associated problems, “the event tries to value outstanding successful experiences in the framework of university-business collaboration in relation to the use of research and innovation consortia, and encourage the use of this type of collaborative figures, due to the benefits that are derived”, highlights Professor Olavarría, co-organiser of the meeting.

The conference will include, among others, the participation of Francisco Gabriel Acien, professor of Engineering at the University of Almería; Diego Alonso Cáceres, professor at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in the area of Information Technology and Communications; Iryna Biliaieva, Open Innovation Manager at ADM Biópolis S.A.; Itziar Carredo, Head of International Projects of the Technological Institute of Plastic (AIMPLAST); Javier Medina, partner and director of Qi Europe; Tatiana Montoya, head of R + D + i of the Waste Water Department, Global Omnium, Aguas de Valencia S.A.; Manuel Porcar, researcher at the Institute for Integrative Systems Biology (UV-CSIC); Raquel Rodríguez, director of the OTRI of the University of Zaragoza; and Ángeles Sanchis, head of the UV International R + D + i Section.

The conference, aimed at university teachers and research groups, innovative technology-based or scientific companies, and technical staff from science and technology parks, transfer and innovation services from universities and other research organisations, and innovation agents and technical knowledge transfer staff, is part of the Globaltech Project, promoted by the FPCUV and the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, in order to promote a global approach to business and projects and the success of the consortia and alliances in the innovation environment.
