TEACHING IN ENGLISH - FACULTY OF LAW

1. Degrees with teaching groups in English

The educational offer of the undergraduate and double degree programs at the Faculty of Law, most of which are taught in both official languages of the Valencian Community, is complemented by the possibility of being taught in English in the following degree programs:

  • Law Degree: One grouping in each course presents most of the subjects with teaching in English (AR groupings).
  • Double Degree in Law-Economics: Certain subjects in each course are taught exclusively in English. Annually, the respective Academic Committees approve the offer of subjects in that language.
  • Double Degree Business Administration and Management (ADE)-Law: In the higher courses, and upon request, it is also possible to voluntarily take certain subjects in English by enrolling in the respective AR group of the Degree in Law or the Degree in ADE. Each year, the respective Academic Committees approve which subjects can be taken in these groups.

2. Admission and 1st enrollment

  • Group AR of the Bachelor's Degree in Law: New students enroll in the same order in which they have been admitted by pre-registration. Students who wish to study in the English teaching group must enroll in the AR Group on the day of their enrollment appointment, if there are places available (50 places per group).
  • Double Degree Law-Economics: Students admitted to this double degree must enroll in the DE group, which has certain subjects taught exclusively in English.
  • Double Degree Business Administration and Management (ADE)-Law: In 1st registration, students must choose group 1A (teaching in Valencian in all subjects) or 1B (teaching in Spanish in all subjects). It is not until the 3rd year when there is the possibility to receive teaching in English.

3. Language requirement

  • In the AR grouping of the Law Degree it is not necessary to accredit any linguistic requirement at the beginning. In order to remain in the English teaching group in the following courses, the student must submit by electronic registration certification of knowledge of the English language with a level equivalent to B2 or higher before the end of the first course, according to the equivalence table.
  • In the Double Degree Law-Economics it is necessary to accredit the B1 certification in pre-registration. The B2 level is recommended for a better use of the classes in English.
  • In the Double Degree ADE-Law it is not necessary to accredit any linguistic requirement. Level B2 is recommended for a better use of English classes.

The The UV Language Center periodically organizes Level Courses and PACLE Exams (Accreditation Tests of Foreign Language Proficiency).

4. Teaching and Evaluation

The vehicular language of the subjects of these groups will be English. Classes, tutorials and evaluation of academic performance will be conducted entirely in English.

Repeated subjects may be taken in groups taught in Valencian or Spanish. Students from other groups can also enroll in subjects taught in English provided that there are places available and without accrediting any certification.

A mention of belonging to the teaching group in English will be included in the European Diploma Supplement.

Students who have enrolled in an ARA group prior to the 2022/23 academic year will maintain the same conditions than were in force on the time they enrolled for the first time.
