Take part in the 2nd Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: free and shared knowledge about Valencian popular festivals
The Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication at the University of Valencia will host, next Friday May 8th, from 10:00 to 14:00, in Room 02, an editing marathon focused on Valencian traditions.
This event, held for the third consecutive year, aims to highlight the cultural heritage of the Valencian Community through one of the largest encyclopedias in the world, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary with nearly 15 billion monthly visits and 65 million articles in more than 300 languages.
In this case, the content will be produced in Valencian and Spanish. In addition, there will be in-person support from professionals from Wikipedia Spain, who will teach and assist in editing articles on this platform, a benchmark in the free culture movement.
Participation in this collaborative event requires prior registration, as places are limited. To do so, it is only necessary to fill out this form. It is also important to note that Room 02 does not have computers, so attendees must bring their own laptops to work.
This edit-a-thon is part of the project “Media literacy and digital culture with Wikipedia”, promoted by Professor Lorena Cano-Orón since 2021 and supported by the Vice-Rectorate for Employment and Training Programs of the University of Valencia; an initiative that combines free knowledge, media literacy and educational innovation.
Although the editing marathon will take place in person on Friday May 8th, participants will be able to continue editing content independently until May 15th. Once again, this event represents an opportunity to learn about free knowledge, join the collaborative Wikipedia community, and promote Valencian cultural heritage.
We look forward to seeing you!
