The European Research Council Synergy Grants are open until 5 November 2025.
The European Research Council Synergy Grants (ERC SyG) support groups of two to four principal investigators to jointly address ambitious research problems that could not be solved by the researchers and their teams working alone. Researchers should bring complementary skills, knowledge, and resources to address these problems from different perspectives and disciplines. Some of the key features of these grants are:
- Applications can be submitted in any field of research, with no predefined priorities. The sole evaluation criterion is scientific excellence, which includes the intrinsic synergistic effect of the proposal.
- Applicants must present a track record of achievements appropriate to their career stage.
- Research must be conducted in one or more public or private research organizations (known as host institutions) established in one of the EU Member States or associated countries. One of the principal investigators per group may be affiliated with an institution outside the EU or associated countries.
- Fellowships have a duration of up to six years and a maximum budget of €10 million per project.
All the necessary documentation to prepare a Synergy Grant project proposal is available on the European Commission's Funding Portal.
