ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS
The access control system maintenance is essential to guarantee security, user protection and the correct working o facilities The maintenance include recurrent inspection and corrective interventions aiming to make sure every device and system related (card readers, parking barrier and drivers) works efficiently and securely.
Note: electronic locks, number code readers, biometric systems and security cameras are not included in the maintenance.
Access control system maintenance is crucial to guarantee the security and correct functioning of restricted areas. It includes preventive, corrective and predictive tasks and the technical and legal compliance aiming to maximise the efficiency, lengthen the system lifespan and protect the facilities.
Access control system components
-
Evolutive maintenance
Evolutive maintenance consists on the installation of new compatible solutions with updated software. Recurrent tests must be run each time the software is updated.
The evolutive maintenance service is a part of the contract as implied in the thirty third Disposition of the Law 9/2017 of Public Sector Contracts. In compliance of it, companies commit to provide a successive service with a single price, with no specific number of service when signing the contract, since the number will be determined according to the needs that may arise during the contracted period.
-
Preventive maintenance
Preventive maintenance consists on the inspection of the facilities to detect any anomaly that may compromise its availability. According to the process stablished, the system will be checked, the maintenance tasks will be executed and a report of possible anomalies and detected problems will be redacted.
Corresponding actions include:
- Technical and operative process update in case of variation or modification.
- Wiring and power source revision.
- General state of each element checking, especially those outdoors.
- State of the communications checking.
Preventive, predictive, technical and legal maintenance are a part of the maintenance programme. Recurrent revisions must take place, at least, as often as the best practice, manufacturer instructions and current regulations demand.
-
Corrective maintenance
Corrective maintenance aims to maximise the availability of the system in case of malfunction, acting in the fastest and most efficient way. To that end, the following action protocol is stablished in two levels:
First level of maintenance: Basic incidents, generally functional, managed by the UV integral maintenance company at first.
Second level of maintenance: Incidents outside the first level affecting the optimal functioning of the system. Managed b specialised technical staff of the providing company.
Incident report process
The ‘Type of incident’ field on the report form gives the following options:
-
New access point: Select when a new control point is to be installed in an unregistered location.
-
Configuration and input a new driver: Select when a new access driver is to be configured o activated.
-
Installed element incident: Select to report errors and problems with installed access control devices.
-
Preparation and modification of card permission: Select to activate, manage or modify the access rights associated to a user card.
