Once the applet is running, the first thing to do is to select the certificate with which the user is going to sign/identify himself/herself. The applet will display a list with the certificates installed in the Windows and Mozilla certificates and with the cryptographic cards detected. In addition to the list, you can also load the certificate from a file hosted on your computer.
When starting the applet, a list of the certificates installed in the Mozilla and Windows stores will be displayed. The certificates installed in both stores will be shown regardless of the browser you are working with. Depending on the store where the certificate is installed, an icon will appear to identify it.
If the Mozilla store is password-protected, you will be prompted for a password, and if you do not enter it correctly, the certificates in that store will not be displayed.
If you have your certificate saved in a file (.p12), you can click on the "In file" button (at the bottom right) and select it on your computer.
The applet will detect the cryptographic card devices connected to your computer and display them in the list.
Supported certificate authorities
The applet currently supports certificates issued under the following certificate authorities:
- Certificates issued by the ACCV: Any certificate of citizen, public employee, company membership... from the ACCV, either in cryptographic card, p12 file or installed in the browser.
- DNIe: Using a card reader, the applet is able to detect the DNIe and use it to sign documents.
