Biography
 

Senior Lecturer in Media Studies at the University of Valencia (Spain). He has been researching the history of cinema and the political effects of popular culture while his main teaching interests focus on documentary film, Spanish film, popular music and audio-visual translation. He also served as a research fellow and a visiting professor in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. He coordinated the Master’s Degree in Interculturality, Communication and European Studies at the University of Valencia and the Marie-Curie research projects “Cultural narratives of crisis and renewal” and "Archives in transition. Collective memories and subaltern uses" at the same institution. He has published many articles dedicated to cinema and music in various international journals. He has also authored books such as “Frank Zappa en el infierno. El rock como movilización para la disidencia política” (Madrid, Biblioteca Nueva, 2006) “Madrid. Visiones cinematográficas de los años 1950 a los años 2000” (Neuilly-sur-Seine, Atlande, 2014), and edited others, such as “Cine, imagen y representación en Guy Debord” (Valencia, Tirant, 2019). He also translated the memoirs of rock musicians Roger Daltrey, Robby Krieger and Frank Zappa into Spanish.

Biography
 

Rosanna Mestre-Pérez is Associate Professor of Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat de València, where she has taught since 1999. She holds a PhD in Hispanic Philology, with a doctoral thesis on Spanish cinema, as well as degrees in Audiovisual Communication and Audiovisual Languages, all from the Universitat de València. At the same university, she has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, and Multimedia Engineering. She was Visiting Instructor of Spanish at Longwood College, now Longwood University, in Virginia, and has also taught doctoral courses at the University of Oriente in Santiago de Cuba. She also taught courses of Spanish for Longwood College’s study abroad programme in Mérida, Venezuela, as well as Spanish cinema and culture, in Spanish and English, in several international programmes for USA students (UVA, ISA, UGA, IOWA...) at the Universitat de València.

Her research focuses on film studies, screen tourism, and digital communication. She coordinates CITur (Cinema, Imaginaries and Tourism), an international research group at the Universitat de València, founded in 2005 by Antonia del Rey Reguillo and recognised as a pioneering reference in Spain in the study of the relationships between cinema, social imaginaries, and tourism. In this field, she has been PI (HAR2016_77734-P) and co-PI with Jorge Nieto Ferrando (PID2020-112668GB-I00) of national research projects on film and tourism funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. One of her research subfields examines Indian cinema shot in Spain and its role in shaping cultural imaginaries, destination images, and screen tourism.

Her work on digital communication focuses especially on artificial intelligence (IACom teaching innovation group), the visual and sociopolitical study of geolocated digital archives such as Google Street View, and audiovisual literacy through digital literary genres (NAPCED teaching innovation group, YouTube channel). She was a member of the R&D group Mediaflows in the project on the ecology of disinformation and the construction of fake news in the public sphere (AICO2020/224), led by Guillermo López García at the Universitat de València, and part of the research team led by Josep Gifreu Pinsach at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra on television and migration (2001-2003). She led two teaching innovation projects at the Universitat de València on cooperative learning and the use of ICT (2009-2010 and 2010-2011). She serves on the editorial board of Estudios Turísticos, the journal published by Turespaña, and Arts and Communication journal. She was Guest Editor of the special issue Shaping Destinations: The Role of Cultural Affinity and Screen Tourism in Sustainable Development for Arts & Communication (2025-2026). She acts as a peer reviewer for several academic journals in film studies, screen tourism, visual culture, and communication. She has participated in several funded research projects, supervised PhD theses in her main research areas, and taken part in more than fifty academic events in China, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. She has published extensively in these fields and undertaken research stays at international institutions in Europe and the Americas. She has also served as coordinator of the Aula de Cinema at the Universitat de València. She is currently mobility coordinator for the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat de València.

Biography
 

ENRIC OLIVARES TORRES (Algemesí, 1978) is a graduate and PhD in Art History and an assistant professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Valencia since 2022. Prior to that year, and since 2016, he was an associate professor in the same department. He also worked as a secondary school teacher at the private school Maria Auxiliadora in Algemesí from 2010 to 2022. He was a research fellow at the Museum of the City of Valencia (2002), the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia (2008), and the Department of Art History at the University of Valencia (2003-2007).

His main research interests focus on Valencian art and ritual manifestations in the Valencian festive context, as well as studies of visual culture and Christian iconography, to which he has dedicated several monographs and articles in specialized journals. He has participated in the cataloging, assembly, and curating of exhibitions on the work of various Valencian artists from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Juli Peris Brell, Manuel Benedito, Manuel Sigüenza, Leonardo Borràs, Juan Francés, and more recently, Josep Renau, to whom he dedicated the exhibition Josep Renau and the Time of Images (2022). He also contributed to the development of the guide for the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia in 2008.

He is the author or co-author of the works Ceràmica devocional d’Algemesí (2005); El Bolero d'Algemesí. Cent anys del Ball de les Llauradores (2006); Temps de casinos. El Casino Lliberal d’Algemesí (2007); La colección de arte Adolfo de Azcárraga del Ayuntamiento de Valencia (2009); Iconografia de sant Jaume cavaller. El retaule major d’Algemesí (2011); Un projecte insòlit. Els relleus de Leonardo Borràs (2017); Festes, danses i processons als arxius de la Casa Insa (2018) o Els guerrers de la festa. He is part of the research group APES (Visual Culture Studies) and is a member of the Spanish Society of Emblematics. Since 2023, he also directs the Chair of Traditional Music and Dance.

Dorota Kotwica is a lecturer at the University of Valencia. She is part of the Val.Es.Co. research group and participates in the ESPRINT research project.

Her main lines of research are pragmatics, discourse analysis, the categories of mitigation, intensification and evidentiality, and Spanish as a foreign language.
