Clarivate Analytics' Incites Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is a web-based statistical information tool based on Web of Science data, which is a source of bibliometric data used by a large number of international rankings. ESI analyzes data from more than 12 million articles in more than 12,000 journals during a period of 10 years. In the 2018 edition, 5.776 institutions have been classified.
The University of Valencia obtains the following classifications: by number of citations it ranks 322 worldwide and the 3rd Spanish university, by number of articles in the 300th world position and the 4th Spanish university, by number of Top papers and by number of Highly cited papers it obtains the 334th world position and the 3rd in Spain. And finally it stands out for the number of Hot Papers in the 223rd position worldwide and the 2nd Spanish university (behind the University of Barcelona).
Regarding the results obtained by research fields, UV is among the 200 best institutions in one of the five indicators in: Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Psychiatry/Psychology, Clinical Medicine and Economics & Business.
