“Innovation and Sustainability in Chemical Engineering to meet the Challenges of Ecological Transition”
The Master in Chemical Engineering of the Universitat de València has organised the 8th Conference for IQ-Innovation in Chemical Engineering, in which students propose technological innovations such as solutions to needs or as opportunities in specific market niches.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Innovation and Sustainability in Chemical Engineering to meet the Challenges of Ecological Transition” and the event is in line with the ecological transition needs of society based on technological solutions. The IQ-Innovation Conference is aligned with the actions of the UVsostenibilitat team of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life at our university and adds to the awareness-raising efforts related to training professionals in the knowledge and skills that have led Valencia to compete for the European Capital of Innovation and to achieve the European Green Capital status.
The purpose of the conference is to create a professional atmosphere that simulates the interaction between the proposers and the visiting public at scientific congresses and business fairs. 8 stands have been arranged where our innovators will present the development of the latest technological proposals.
The presented projects include:
- AGROVERTICAL - Hydroponic agrofarming with environmental integration of effluents
- CITRICOVER - Biogas purification using membranes with biocoating made of orange waste
- CO2PER - Polluting emissions reducer for cars
- DARK TREES - Synthetic Trees for Carbon Capture
- PHOTOPEROVSKITA - Development of photovoltaic devices based on perovskite and a polymer matrix
- RECUP(EDAR) - Phosphorus recovery in WWTPs using membrane technology
- (RE)TYRE4CITIES - Transforming tyres and recycled plastic into urban furniture
- SOLARGUARD - Plastic-based autogenous guardrail with integrated photovoltaic modules
This conference is coordinated by José Badia, professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering of ETSE and Head of the UVsostenibilitat Initiative at the Universitat de València. This activity focused on critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills, to address issues of technological innovation such as technology monitoring, the threefold impact on society, the economy and the environment, protection and exploitation, and sources of funding, among other aspects, in a practical way and focused on solving real-life problems.
The conference, open to the public, will take place on Wednesday 13 December, in classroom 0.0.3 of the Technical School of Engineering, between 10:30am to 12:00pm.
