Chat GPT

Since its introduction, ChatGPT has demonstrated how chatbots can influence teaching and learning. ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize university pedagogy and assessment and impact the learning experience of students. Technology also poses challenges to academic integrity.

Nevertheless, the students' use of the generative AI platform is documented. Understanding students' learning goals and objectives in relation to their intentions for using ChatGPT could serve as a basis for policy and system design at universities. Such policies may require the adoption of pedagogical approaches guided by students' learning objectives and their intentions to use ChatGPT, with the aim of harmonizing the benefits of the technology while ensuring quality education and learning experiences.

Consequently, the "Survey on Initial Observations of Students' Intentions to Use ChatGPT for Academic Purposes: A Framework of Learning and Delegation to Information System Artifacts" is initiated by a group of researchers at the University of Agder (UiA), Norway (with interested collaborating universities participating in the FORTHEM projects). The aim of the study is to create tools and foundations for the development of pedagogical approaches guided by the learning objectives (goals) of the students and their intentions to use ChatGPT. The results of the study will inform university policies and harmonize the benefits of ChatGPT, while ensuring quality education and learning experiences.
