Description of research activity:

The Advanced Research Group in the Psychology of Physical Activity, Exercise and Sport (GIAPAFED), aims to address advanced research and intervention in the various contexts of physical activity, exercise and sports practice. Within these contexts, it focuses on various lines of research such as: - training sports practice and physical education contexts - the processes of social influence from the main agents of sports socialisation (i.e., parents, coaches, physical education teachers, and peers) - the motivational processes related to the practice of physical-sports activity - the transmission of values in sport - the encouragement and promotion of the positive development of young people in training - the study and intervention of psychosocial variables (e.g. social identity, life skills, adherence to the practice of physical activity) - the promotion of health through the practice of physical-sports activity (e.g., weight control strategies through the practice of physical activity and healthy eating) in the general population.   • Leadership in sport and physical education.Study and intervention in the leadership of coaches, physical education teachers and parents.
  • Motivation in physical activity, sport and exercise.Study and intervention in motivation in the context of the practice of physical activity, sport and exercise.
  • Weight control strategies.Study and intervention on weight management strategies (healthy vs unhealthy eating, physical activity) and their relationships with self-determined motivation, stages of change and grit personality
  • Social identity in sport.Study of social identity in the context of sports practice and its relationship with other psychosocial variables.
  • Physically active learning (PAL).Study and application of PAL in school contexts
  • Values in sport.Study of the transmission of values in sport and its correlates with other variables of interest.
