Description of research activity:
The Prosocial Synergy Research Group (GISProsc) consists of researchers and teachers from different public and private universities, of an international nature, whose subject of research is both prosociality in itself and in a synergistic sense. It involves researchers from different areas of psychology (basic, evolutionary and educational; personality evaluation and psychological treatments; social psychology, methodology in behavioural sciences and psychobiology) and education sciences (research and diagnostic methods in education), which allows research of greater scientific rigor to be developed. Its international nature helps to keep cultural and transcultural elements in mind in prosocial study, analysing synergies and responding to the demands of all rigorous and scientific research. In addition, the group works from the perspective of the bio-psycho-social model, considering the : cognitive (moral reasoning, criminal thinking, intelligence, etc.), emotional (empathy, psychological well-being, etc.), motivational (social support and University Social Responsibility) and relational linked to prosocial behaviour. It recognises the theoretical models provided by science for prosocial behaviour, relies on psychological evaluation methods and instruments with reliability and adequate validity and performs systematic reviews and meta-analyses that accumulate evidence obtained in empirical studies and that synthesise the available scientific information through that save time for professionals in health sciences and social sciences. In this way, it offers an overview of that which is confirmed by scientific evidence regarding prosociality and related constructs. The group investigates prosocial behaviour as well as its predictors. It also designs, evaluates and applies intervention programmes in educational contexts at all levels (infant, primary, secondary and university), taking into account elements and processes related to the presence of students with functional diversity. Another interest is the people's care, health and psychological well-being. Therefore, it designs tools and proposes specific and practical interventions aimed at the general population, people in the educational field (teachers, administrative staff, parents and students) from all educational stages (infant, primary, secondary and university), caregivers for dependent people, people with health problems or the absence of psychological well-being, people linked to social areas, especially vulnerability and exclusion (women, migration, prison, etc.). Finally, it should be noted that the group investigates prosociality as a protective element against different addictions (online gaming, social networks, substance use, sex, tobacco, video games, etc.).
