The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Participants

Data related to research groups featured in various information dissemination channels shall not, under any circumstances, imply a statement or commitment regarding the employment or academic affiliation of individuals associated with the Universitat de València. Their inclusion is solely the responsibility of the group directors. Updates will be made upon request from interested parties.

Description of research activity:
Since its creation in 1988, our research group has introduced new concepts of calibration, exactitude and quality of analytic results, multiresidue analysis, solid phase extraction, conventional, multidimensional and capillary liquid chromatography, nanochromatography and on-site analytic devices. In the developed analytic systems, the sample, separation and detection manipulation are integrated in a single tool. The research expects to meet the current demand for fast, cost-effective and clean analytic procedures. Strategies implementing new nanomaterials are currently being developed. Both instrumental and analytic objectives are being pursued (type of necessary information, sample characteristics, present type of analytes and concentration, detection-originating species, chirality). The resolution of several analytic problems was addressed in different research areas, mainly for environment, health, diet, drug addiction and industry. This work was developed in the framework of various research projects financed by public bodies and it could count on the contribution of researchers from other universities and research centres. The carried out work was reflected on publications...Since its creation in 1988, our research group has introduced new concepts of calibration, exactitude and quality of analytic results, multiresidue analysis, solid phase extraction, conventional, multidimensional and capillary liquid chromatography, nanochromatography and on-site analytic devices. This work was developed in the framework of various research projects financed by public bodies and it could count on the contribution of researchers from other universities and research centres. The carried out work was reflected on publications included in magazines of international renown, in congresses, theses and both undergraduate and master¿s degree final projects. It also enabled the establishment of activities centred in the transmission of knowledge with companies, public bodies and research centres.

Scientific-technical goals:
  • Aportar nuevo conocimiento cientifico en quimica
  • Transferir el conocimiento a la sociedad en los campos medioambiental, de la salud incluyendo drogadiccion, agroalimentario e industrial

Research lines:
  • Metrology.Aimed at developing the validation strategies for the analytical parameters of a procedure.
  • Emerging pollulants. The current analytic chemistry and the adaptation of the new available instrumentation to research allows the detection and characterisation of compounds at very low concentration levels, allowing the study of emerging pollulants, which only a few years ago was not possible to detect.
  • Nuevas estrategias para el desarrollo de dispositivos para análisis in situ.It seeks to develop scientific knowledge that generates new tools that adapt to the current needs of society. The benefits that they can provide are: low cost, no energy consumption, versatility of location, one-off use, evaluation of large areas with specific resolution.
  • Miniaturization in liquid chromatography.New analysis strategies in miniaturised chromatographic techniques which incorporate solid phase microextraction in tubes with new (nano)materials.
  • Nanomaterials and analysis. The research is planned in two directions: nanomaterials characterisation including strategies for their detection and/or analytic determination and the study of their characteristics and their influence in the improvement of analytic parameters.
