The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.

The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Participants

Data related to research groups featured in various information dissemination channels shall not, under any circumstances, imply a statement or commitment regarding the employment or academic affiliation of individuals associated with the Universitat de València. Their inclusion is solely the responsibility of the group directors. Updates will be made upon request from interested parties.

Tunable Multifunctional Molecular Materials - M4

Reference of the Group:

GIUV2014-208

Description of research activity:
The activity of the group focuses on the design, synthesis and characterisation of new molecular materials that present several properties of interest in the same material and whose properties can be modulated and adjusted at will. The ultimate goal will be the preparation of devices in which these multifunctional molecular materials represent an additional advantage thanks to the possibility of modulating these properties. To this end, the group uses the usual tools of coordination chemistry for the synthesis of materials that combine different properties. The most common properties will be electrical, magnetic and optical. Among the first ones, electronic and ionic conductors and superconductors stand out. Magnetic properties include magnetic couplings, long-range magnetic arrangements, single-molecular magnets (SMM) or single-chain magnets (SCM) as well as switch systems such as spin transition systems (SCO) among others. Optical properties include luminescence and fluorescence, as well as chiral or photoisomerisable systems. SCO systems also exhibit optical properties such as the blocking of a light-induced excited spin state (LIESST) where a transition to a metastable spin...The activity of the group focuses on the design, synthesis and characterisation of new molecular materials that present several properties of interest in the same material and whose properties can be modulated and adjusted at will. SCO systems also exhibit optical properties such as the blocking of a light-induced excited spin state (LIESST) where a transition to a metastable spin state occurs by light absorption. We will also focus on the preparation of materials that combine magnetic properties with porosity in order to design materials capable of interacting with host molecules and thereby changing their properties (chemical sensors).
