The UV research groups (GIUV) are regulated in the 1st chapter of the Regulation ACGUV48/2013, which explains the procedure for creating new research structures. They are basic research and organizational structures that result from the voluntary association of researchers that share objectives, facilities, resources and common lines of research. These researchers are also committed to the consolidation and stability of their activity, work in groups and the capability to achieve a sustainable funding.
The research groups included in the previously mentioned Regulation are registered in the Register of Research Structures of the Universitat de València (REIUV), managed by the Office of the Vice-principal for Research. The basic information of these organisms can be found in this website.

Description of research activity: OVAGAP aims to bring together researchers from the University of Valencia and from various institutes, universities, and research centers whose fields of study include the analysis of institutional factors that facilitate or hinder (barriers) the achievement of optimal indicators of environmental governance, with special attention to the management of resources and spaces in the Valencian Community. In addition, OVAGAP is committed to highlighting the University of Valencia's role in disseminating and raising awareness through the updating and transfer of scientific knowledge about past trajectories, present realities, and future scenarios of a climatic and institutional nature, all related to the role of Public Administrations in the governance of Valencian natural resources. Therefore, OVAGAP's actions are aimed at gathering scientific evidence, generating knowledge, and disseminating research results that strengthen the social and institutional capacities of the Valencian environmental governance system through the prioritized analysis of administrative variables.

Scientific-technical goals: - Analizar y evaluar la participacion conjunta de Administraciones Publicas, actores de la sociedad civil e instituciones academicas en la elaboracion de propuestas para mejorar la eficacia de las politicas publicas destinadas a la proteccion ambiental de recursos y espacios naturales protegidos de la Comunitat Valenciana.
- Contribuir a la generacion y actualizacion de conocimiento cientifico sobre la gobernanza ambiental de la Comunitat Valenciana, identificando las barreras y facilitadores institucionales que influyen en las politicas publicas de gestion sobre espacios protegides.
- Divulgar entre el conjunto de la sociedad los principales hallazgos en materia de gobernanza sobre distintas figuras de proteccion ambiental, asi como proponer alternativas eficaces de gestion a traves de distintas metodologias de dialogo entre saberes tradicionales, profesionales y academicos sobre las materias que son objeto de atencion por parte de OVAGAP
- Favorecer la constitucion de redes entre Administraciones Publicas, actores de la sociedad civil y grupos de investigacion para generar sinergias que fortalezcan las capacidades institucionales de gobernanza ambiental frente a los distintos escenarios climaticos definidos por las principales estrategias prospectivas mas recientes.
Research lines: - Adaptation, Mitigation, and Management of the Effects and Impacts of Climate Change Analysis and Evaluation of Institutional Barriers and Facilitators.The group addresses climate change adaptation, mitigation and management, analysing institutional barriers and facilitators for environmental governance. It promotes institutional innovation and new governance schemes, with an emphasis on citizen participation, dissemination and awareness-raising.
