Organized by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the University of Valencia (UV), this competition aims to spark students' curiosity about statistics as a fundamental tool in research and data analysis, both in the experimental and social sciences. Students participating in the competition will complete a statistics project, presented as a written report in any of the official languages ​​of the Valencian Community.

This project must utilize statistical techniques and concepts to answer a question relevant to the participating team and their community. The project must include information on the data collection process, as well as its graphical and numerical representation.

This competition serves as the local phase in the Valencian Community of the national competition "AVATAR: Discovering Statistics in the Land of Data," organized by the Society of Statistics, Operations Research and Data Science (SEIO).

 

Participation

Students from ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), baccalaureate (Upper Secondary Education), and Vocational Training programs can participate individually or in groups of up to four students. Each group must be supervised by teachers from their school. There is no limit to the number of participants from the same school, nor to the number of projects supervised by the same teacher. Only one entry per student is allowed.

Registration

Registration will be open until April 17, 2026. Registration will be completed by the teacher supervising the group and must include a contact email address, the names of the participating students, the title of the project, and information about the school.
