The call is open to students in 4th year of secondary education and 1st and 2nd year of upper secondary education from all over the Valencian Community.

Within the framework of the XVI Philosophy Olympiad of the Valencian Community we propose the activity: Philosophical Video. The video will develop philosophical ideas, and will therefore be conceptual and reflective in nature, although the narrative genres can be diverse: documentary, mockumentary, fiction, animation, etc.

The general theme will be the same as that of the Olimpiada Filosófica de España (OFE): What is leisure?, which can be approached from different perspectives of the students' choice.

Participants:

Each school may submit a maximum of three videos which, after pre-selection, are ranked first, second and third by the school itself at the time of submission.

The video can be made individually or in a group of up to three people. Although participation in the recording and production of the video is a group effort, only one member of the group is guaranteed to attend the final.

Each participant may submit no more than one video, either individually or in a group.

Content and format:

  • To avoid falling into narrative, explanation or description, the minimum length allowed is one minute and the maximum four minutes
  • Preference for the use of self-created images, although the use of images or sequences that are not original is not excluded, as long as they are framed in a personal elaboration, both in a conceptual and visual sense.
  • Any editing and image processing techniques that the authors consider necessary and justified for the development of the idea they want to convey in the short film are allowed.
  • The video will have a title but, in order to facilitate an objective evaluation by the jury, there will be no personal data and it will not be made public until the end of the Philosophy Olympiad of the Valencian Community.
  • After the jury's decision, the video may be made public and may include the name and surname of the authors, the teacher responsible and the school.
  • Videos must be original. The participant declares and guarantees that he/she is the sole owner of all copyrights on the video submitted to the competition and is fully responsible for the absence of third party rights on the submitted works, as well as for any third party claims for image and sound rights.
  • Previously awarded videos will not be accepted.
  • Videos featuring recognisable people must be accompanied by a letter signed by these people, or their parent or legal guardian, authorising the use of their image.
  • The videos will be presented under Creative-Commons licence.

Submission of the videos:

  1. The videos must be sent in within the period established for this purpose and in accordance with the instructions set out by the commission.
  2. The selection system must guarantee total anonymity with regard to the authorship of the videos. For this purpose:
    • The video must be uploaded to an online platform, preferably YouTube, and named with the title of the video. Ensure that the name of the channel or other circumstances do not contain information that could reveal the identity of the author.
    • The link to the video must be sent to the commission under a pseudonym, following the instructions given by the commission (using the form established for this purpose).
