The excellent reception of economic-business studies in university access is ratified

  • September 2nd, 2020
Se revalida la excelente acogida de los estudios económico-empresariales en el acceso a la universidad

Despite the drastic changes that have affected our lives since the SARS-CoV-2, education is still going ahead, and the university is now ready to receive a new wave of young people who are eager to fight to be trained and become great professionals.

Out of the more than 20,000 students who have applied in the Valencian Community, 96.78% have passed the PAU, with an average mark of 6,658. Of these, almost 9,000 will register at the University of Valencia and more than 1,300 at the Faculty of Economics.

The results of pre-enrolment for university degrees have cheered up those who have managed to enter their first choice and, of course, they also offer equally precious opportunities to the rest. The so-called "cut-off grades" will have unveiled more than one, but once the question of what to study next year has been cleared up, the time has come to prepare the tablet and process the registration online.

The Faculty of Economics has consolidated its status as a highly desirable destination for a vast majority of students. All of the places in its degree courses have been filled with applicants from the first call of the university access test, and all of them have a waiting list that, in degrees such as International Business or Business Intelligence and Analysis, exceeds the number of places available by more than six.

The cut-off notes have followed the upward trend of previous years. It is important to highlight the standard imposed by the admission to the Degree in International Business, where its 150 places have been covered with a cut-off mark of 12.67 (out of 14), half a point higher than last year and one of the highest in the whole Valencian Community.

The Double Degree in Business Administration and Law is not far behind, with a 12.378 mark for access, including applications with a mark of 14 among those admitted.

The youngest of the family, for its youth and the small number of places offered, is the Degree in Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA), which had a triumphant debut last year with a cut-off mark of 11,417 and this year renews the interest of students for this degree, which has closed its 50 places with a 12,186, leaving a waiting list of almost 7 times its offer.

The degree with the highest demand in absolute terms continues to be the Degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE), which has more than 1,200 applications to occupy one of the 440 positions offered and increases its cut-off mark to 9,722. The Ontinyent extension has also covered its 70 places (6.33 cut-off mark).

The Double Degree in Tourism and ADE is a sample of studies highly valued by society, with 60 places that, once covered, have left behind more than 200 applicants who have not reached the 11,726 of its cut-off mark.

The Valencian tourism sector will also keep having highly qualified professionals thanks to the 150 places offered by the Degree in Tourism, with a cut-off mark of 8,718.

The remarkable specialization offered by the Degree in Finance and Accounting has undoubtedly been the asset that has attracted nearly 500 students to demand these studies, whose 140 places have been covered with a cut-off mark of 9,089.

Finally, it is worth noting the ascending progression of the Degree in Economics, which this year presents a cut-off mark of 10,256, with 210 places available. In the uncertain times in which we live, society is eager for greater economic knowledge and this interest is clearly reflected in this degree in particular and in general in all those that make up the broad portfolio of degrees of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia.
