When an employee leaves the Universitat de València for any legally established reason, they can apply to the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE) for unemployment benefits. For this, the Social Security Section must issue a Company Certificate with the necessary data for SEPE to calculate the contributory benefit amount.
This document is issued electronically by the Social Security Section to the corresponding agency, SEPE. However, this certificate IS NOT automatically issued when the employment relationship with the Universitat de València ends; it must always be requested by the employee.

How to request this Company Certificate?

As indicated in the termination notice sent by the corresponding Human Resources service, if you wish to apply for unemployment benefits, you must send your request to the Social Security Section via email at seccionss@uv.es.

Steps to follow:

The employee sends their request to the email address provided with the following information: Full Name, ID Number, and Termination Date. Within a few days, they will receive confirmation of the request registration at their corporate email (@uv.es).
After verifying administrative and payroll data, as well as any remaining vacation settlement if applicable, the Company Certificate is sent through SEPE's *Certific@2 system, an electronic delivery service that replaces sending this document in paper format to the employee.
Once SEPE confirms receipt of the Company Certificate, the employee can submit their unemployment benefits application. The request must be submitted within fifteen working days from the day after the termination date or from the day any pending vacation period ends, if applicable.

You can apply through two channels:

- In person: you must schedule an appointment at SEPE.
