When an employee affiliated with the General Social Security Scheme ceases to be employed at the University of Valencia for any of the legally established reasons, they can apply to the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) for unemployment benefits, if they have contributed for this purpose.
Unemployment status
When an employee leaves the University of Valencia for any of the legally established reasons, they can apply for unemployment benefits from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). To do so, the Social Security Section must issue a Company Certificate with the necessary information for the SEPE to calculate the amount of the contributory benefit.
This document is issued electronically by the Social Security Section to the corresponding agency, the SEPE. However, this certificate is NOT issued automatically upon termination of employment with the University of Valencia; it is always issued at the request of the interested party.
How to request the company certificate
The interested party must reques a COMPANY CERTIFICATE from the Social Security Section, at the following email address: seccionss@uv.es,
with the following information: Name and Surname, ID number and Termination Date. In a few days you should receive confirmation of your application registration in your corporate email (@uv.es).
After verifying the administrative and remuneration data, and, where applicable, the settlement of vacation pay corresponding to the termination, the Social Security Section will send the Company Certificate to the SEPE.
Once the correct receipt of the Company Certificate by the (SEPE) has been confirmed, we will contact you again to inform you that you can now submit your application for Unemployment benefits to said entity.

You have fifteen business days from the day after your employment ends or from the day your remaining vacation time, if applicable, to apply.
Provided that our department has confirmed the SEPE's receipt of your Company Certificate, you can apply for benefits through the following methods:
- In person: You must schedule an appointment with the SEPE.

- Online: You will need a digital signature and authentication method, i.e., a username and password obtained through the Cl@ve system, a Digital Certificate, or an electronic ID card (DNIe).
