This service allows our users to create and maintain data bases from their browser. The data stored will also be consultable through the browser via automatically generated HTML forms.
Web Database Generator
It can:
- CONSULT any of the WODA web databases that have been created by UV users.
- CREATE or MANAGE your own database.
Information on WODA databases
This service allows our users (domain @ uv.es), to create and maintain databases from their web browser. The stored data will also be searchable through the browser, using automatically generated HTML forms.
The supported databases are simple, non-relational, multi-field tables (no name limitation).
The maximum size of a fixed table is 1 Gbyte (total sum of all records, including fields and attachments, images, etc.)
Multiple browsing forms are automatically generated: simple search per words, advanced search with multiple criteria, exiting forms and of ordination. Navigation through the results and without frames. Also automatically, and only by defining the fields, entering data forms are generated.
The data basis is very operative only defining the fields it is going to have. However, there is the possibility of considerably polish both the consult and data introduction.
For each field, aids and descriptions can be defined, as well as various validation conditions (“starts with”, “contains”, “name”, “obligatory”….). There are 9 possible fields (line, tect, options, URL, e-mail, image, list, fata, separating dash) (note: the type of image is subject to severe size limitations). The field dimension can be controlled in the entering forms and define camps whose values can be one or diverse from a list of options. The fields can be repetitive and can have default value.
It is possible to define additional fields only visible for the cataloguers.
A key word browser allows to rapidly locate registers with a certain value (or value combination) in fields like “options”.
Default searches are all with full text, but there is no difficulty in specifying searches in specific fields and with operator combinations (“contains”, “doesn’t contain”, “is equal to”, “is bigger than”…). The searches are independent to low/high case letters and of accents (if it has been previously specified that the data is not in English).
The data interface, both for cataloguers and readers, is automatically generated in two languages: English and Spanish.
There are three user categories, each of them with a password: owner, cataloguer and readers. It is possible to leave the readers without a password (the data base is public) and also the catalogues (i.e. to make a visits or reclamations book).
The cataloguer can define a particular password for each introduced register. Only the owner can erase or change the passwords.
The data can be uploaded through a form or can be massively uploaded through a CSV file (text with fields separated by “,”) from the data base owner’s machine.
The data base interface, both for the cataloguers and the readers, is automatically generated in two languages: English and Spanish.
If one accesses using a “cookie” supported browser, the data base can show which are the new registers introduced since the last time it was accessed.
In case a URL field is defined, the data base creates a “ring”, which allows to successively go over, with only one click, the pages pointed by the URLs.
The data base motor is the WODA. The descripting file in each data base is compiled by the user himself in a very simple way using the WODA data base generator.
We ask not to leave unused data bases
