SYLVIA MARTÍNEZ GALLEGO

Born in Valencia in 1962, she is a Permanent Professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and a Master's in Specific Didactics and in Secondary Education from the Universitat de València. She earned a PhD in Education in 2015.

Her teachings and research are focused on the fields of Teacher Training, Visual Arts Teaching and Interdisciplinary Arts. She is currently a member of the Investigating Music Education Research Group (iMUSED).

Her professional career includes public service and a teaching position at the Superior School of Art and Design (EASD). As a permanent staff of the Universitat de València, Dr. Gallego spent a term as a researcher at the École Duperré in Paris. She has been a reviewer for several academic journals and has published many articles. Most notably, among them is her recent article 'Development of Social and Environmental Competences of Teachers in Training Using Sound and Visual Landscape' (2023).

Due to her career dedicated to research and teaching and her active participation in the cultural life and art of the Valencian Community, she has earned several award nominations. Dr. Gallego has also developed a career in management as a current member of the Senate of the Universitat de València, of the Academic Committee of the Teacher Training Studies, as Coordinator of the Visual Arts Education Area, and as Coordinator of the Specialisation in Drawing of the Master's Degree in Secondary Education. Since 2022, she has also acted as the Head of Initiatives of Equality and Diversity in the office of the vice-principal of Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies.
