Next Monday, 3 November, at 5 p.m., at the Isabel Clara-Simó Cultural Centre (first floor of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication), we will have the opportunity to attend an exceptional talk with three young Palestinian communicators and activists who are visiting our university as part of the GENERRATION project, promoted by the NGO Mudubat.
This meeting will allow us to reflect on new narratives of Palestine from the perspective of communication and international law in the age of social media, and to learn first-hand how alternative narratives are constructed from within the territory.
The three participants represent diverse and complementary profiles:
-
Duha Mohesen, content creator and advocate for Palestinian cultural identity, uses social media and sustainable fashion to celebrate Palestinian identity and transform it into a task of raising awareness.
-
Zana Tahhan, journalist and political analyst, narrates life under occupation with a critical and courageous voice, combining field coverage and contextual analysis.
-
Maram Firawie, lawyer and human rights activist, defends the rights of the Palestinian community from the heart of Jerusalem, with a special focus on gender-based violence and international law.
The presence at our faculty is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand accounts, understand the role of journalism and communication in conflict situations, and reflect on the construction of news narratives from the Global South.
*Simultaneous translation will be available for those who need to understand them in English.
