The journal Ínsula dedicates issue 957 (September 2026) to Joan Oleza. A series of articles and biographical profiles highlight Oleza’s outstanding career and his impact on international Hispanic Studies.

As Xelo Candel and Luz Souto, the editors of the special issue, state, “Joan Oleza represents the intellectual of integrity in both senses of the expression: because of the coherence between thought and action that has guided his career, but also because he embodies the committed humanist who has known how to navigate the turn of the centuries. [...] [He made] us understand that progress is not always measured in a straight line or in isolated, impermeable compartments; rather, memory, history, the public uses of the past, and the embrace of a new Humanism committed to our contemporary reality help us to understand ourselves better by enabling us to engage in dialogue with international Hispanic Studies and to draw on a transatlantic and transnational perspective, instead of confining ourselves within an autonomous cultural sphere.”
