The University of Valencia will host the VII Congress of the International Society for Hispanic Digital Humanities, which will be held from October 22 to 24, 2025, at the Faculty of Philology, Translation, and Communication and the Faculty of Geography and History.

The congress has been organized by the Department of Spanish Philology, the Department of English and German Philology, and the Department of Art History of the University of Valencia, and has the support of the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Society.

The congress title, “Ad cognoscendum, agendum vel operandum”: Civic and Social Commitment of Digital Humanities”, draws inspiration from the thought of the Valencian humanist Juan Luis Vives. Under this motto, the organizers seek to gather specialists from diverse areas of knowledge —including arts, humanities, and social sciences— and with varying methodologies. Their central aim is to foster reflection on how digital tools facilitate new ways of approaching research, generate new spaces for interdisciplinary work, and affirm the critical role the humanities must play within a complex global context dominated by the omnipresence of digital media.

During the three days of the congress, five plenary lectures, a poster session, and more than one hundred twenty papers are scheduled to take place simultaneously in six parallel rooms. The plenary lectures will be given by Anna Bognolo (Università di Verona), Francisco Moreno-Fernández (Universität Heidelberg - Heidelberg Centre for Iberoamerican Studies), Darío Negueruela del Castillo (Biblioteca Hertziana - Universität Zürich), Pierre Vernus (Université Lumière Lyon 2), and Cristina Vidal Lorenzo (Universitat de València).
