It will have an initial investment of 22 million euros in 2021 and is expected to reach 60 million euros of investment through participation in different European initiatives. Quantum Spain is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Economy through the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence and financed with the Recovery Funds.
In July 2020, the European Council agreed on an exceptional temporary recovery instrument known as NextGenerationEU that aims to contribute to the repair of the immediate economic and social damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The core element of the NextGenerationEU program is the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), which makes funds in loans and grants available to support reforms and investments undertaken by EU countries.
In response to this recovery plan, Spain has designed the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia (PRTR), which includes the commitments related to the reforms and investments in which the Next Generation EU Funds will be invested.
The Plan is structured around four transversal axes (ecological transition, digital transformation, territorial and social cohesion and gender equality), 10 lever policies and 30 components that coherently articulate the reforms and investments that will contribute to achieving the objectives of the PRTR .
Currently, the University of Valencia has been a recipient of MRR funds for the following components and investments:
