Designed at the same time as the adjacent Faculty of Economics by the same architects, the Faculty of Law was conceived of with the same form and structure. Both buildings stand in Avenida de los Naranjos at the edge of campus, acting as the façade of the university facilities and giving them certain prominence in the urban setting. Under the original name of West Department Building, the faculty also housed the departments of the former University School of Social Work, which merged with the new Faculty of Social Sciences in 1999.

The façades are faced entirely with red brick. The building is completely free of ornamental elements, giving volume and form center stage and creating a recognizable image of the university campus. Entrances from Avenida de los Naranjos are located in the second and fourth sections and are not set apart by any form of architectural emphasis, which maintains the unity of the composition. The uniformity of the horizontal windows contributes to this same unity. The south façade alternates rhythmically between solid structure and window openings to accentuate the horizontal nature of the composition. The openings on the ground floor extend to the interior of the building, reproducing the porticoed street of the classroom buildings. The north façade is constructed of solid walls that rest directly on the street, and light reaches the upper floors through the large horizontal windows that offset the verticality of the different elevated volumes.
