The BICYCLE: TRANSPORT, HEALTH AND LEISURE
Bicycle course aimed at the UV university community Organization: Vicerectorat de de Sostenibilitat, Cooperació i Vida Saludable, Servei d'Esports y Facultad de Filosofía y Ciencias de la Educación UV

Course direction: Cruz Pérez Pérez (member of the UV cycling club and professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences)
Course objectives:
• To ensure that UV staff and students interested in cycling acquire fundamental information for its use • To be able to select the most appropriate bicycle for the use
that will be given.
• Use the bicycle to go from home to work and as an element of leisure and health
• Learn the use of new technologies applied to the bicycle
• Get fit by making excursions through Valencia and the natural parks that surround it

 

COURSE PLANNING (30 hours)

Days of the course: from February 24 to May 26, 2023.

Course schedule: Friday 15.30 to 17.30. The days that there is excursion from April, will be 3 hours, until 18.30. On March 11 and 25, the excursions will take place on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 13 p.m. approx.

Course location: Tarongers Sports Ground

Theoretical/practical sessions: 24 February, 3 March, 31 March and 26 May. They will be on Fridays from 15.30 to 17.30. Face-to-face or on.line. We will try different kinds of bike: city, gravel, mountain and electric.

Topics: choosing the most suitable bicycle, set-up, basic mechanics, basic equipment, safety and traffic regulations, digital technology, route planning, etc.

Excursions (three hours): March 11 through the Turia garden, March 25 to Lake Saler, April 21 by Via Xurra, April 28 by the Turia River Park, May 5 by the Barranc del Caraixet, May 12 we will surround the city of Valencia by bike lanes and May 19 to El Palmar.

Registration limit: 30 people for the theoretical and practical sessions, but as only 15 can participate in each outing. They will have preference in order of registration, being able to select the first 15 all the outputs or only some, covering the gaps in order of registration. The registration of two relatives, couple and children is allowed, if they are accompanied by the worker of the University.
