The University of Valencia (UV) is the third Spanish higher education centre and the first Valencian one in the latest update of the Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar. The classification tracks the citations of the scientific articles of each author and compared to 2021, the institution has increased the number of citations by 371,063 (27.92%).

The University of Valencia is in the world position 187, while at European level it is 57th. On a Spanish scale it maintains the third position and continues as the first Valencian higher education centre, in a ranking in which this year 4757 institutions have been classified, 1,007 more than in the 2021 edition (3,750).

The Transparent Ranking is a version of the Webometrics ranking, that does not use the institutional profiles of Google Scholar Citations (GSC), at the request of many universities, but those of the authors of each institution. GSC offers an easy way to track article citations, so each author can check who is citing their posts, graph citations over time, and calculate various citation metrics.

This classification is led internationally by the universities of Harvard, Stanford and California, Berkeley; while at European level it is led by Cambridge, Oxford and the London College. In Spain, the Universities of Barcelona and Granada are the only ones that surpass that of Valencia and, in terms of regional space, the second and third universities are the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Alicante (in world positions 335 and 440, respectively).
