In the life cycle of documents, the intermediate archive is the one to which the documents of the management archives must be transferred when their consultation by the producing bodies is sporadic, and in which they remain until their elimination or transfer to the Historical Archive.

The Intermediate Archive as part of the University Archive contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of the management of the university administration, while guaranteeing the conservation of its documentary heritage. In addition, the university archive must participate in the implementation of electronic administration.

Among the most relevant functions of the Intermediate Archive, the following should be highlighted:

  • Collect, organize, guard and conserve the documentation that is transmitted by the services and administrative units of the Universitat de València.
  • Manage document transfers from administrative services, and to the Historical Archive.
  • Apply the evaluation and selection of documentation, according to the established regulations.
  • Guarantee access, consultation and loan of documents according to specific regulations.
  • Provide technical advice to management archives.
  • To train users in the management of the archive and in the use of their services.
  • All those other functions and competencies that correspond to or can be assigned by the University.
