On the occasion of the centenary of the tributes to Vicente Blasco Ibáñez by the Valencia City Council in 1921, the Vice-principal for Research and the Historical Library of the University have organized the exhibition "Blasco Ibáñez and the conquest of the masses: University of Valencia collection" in which we are invited to rediscover the impact of the work of the famous Valencian through the sample of its most outstanding funds.

Between May 21 and September 5, the Duque de Calabria room of the Historical Library at La Nau Cultural Center will house a careful selection of Blasco's literary and journalistic production, paying attention to the common denominator that for decades nurtured his multifaceted creative impulse: the conquest of the masses.

The exhibition, curated by the historian Blanca Cerdá Aznar, proposes a re-reading of the famous author, which underlines the multifaceted character that characterizes him: novelist, journalist, politician, entrepreneur, traveller and cinematographer. In short, a "man of action".

The image on the poster recovers the magnificent work that Lluís Dubón designed for the extraordinary issue of El Pueblo. Diario republicano de Valencia in 1921 and kept in the Historical Library.

The sample has 60 works, distributed in five thematic sections, in which the newspaper collections of Lo Rat Penat. Calendari llemosí, the newspaper El Pueblo and the magazine La Esfera. In addition, the most suggestive editions of the novelist's production have been selected, highlighting the illustrated volumes, such as the 1929 edition of La barraca in which José Benlliure worked or the Prometheus editions with illustrations by Enric Pertegàs, Francisco Povo, Federico Mellado, Artur Ballester, Enrique Ochoa and Homero Conant.

The exhibition can be visited until September 5.
