The following indications are of strict compliance by the editors of Quaderns de Filologia. In the event that, for whatever reason, the editors should vary any aspect of the regulations or have any problems or doubts, the Vice-Deanship of Culture will be your sole interlocutor.

1. General characteristics of a volume

The monographic volume of Quaderns de Filologia will have an approximate length of 250 pages, with a maximum of 15 pages for each article.
In addition, the editors will prepare an introduction-presentation that will head the volume.

In addition to the work of the professors of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication, the volume should include contributions from prestigious specialists from other universities. The proportion will tend to be the one established by ANECA for the evaluation of journals: 75% of external collaborations to the journal (Approved by the Faculty Board, 26/June/2006).

The volume may include bibliographic news or critical reviews, if at the time of publication they have been sent to Quaderns de Filologia.

2. Volume proposal

To make a proposal for a monographic volume of the journal, the editors must be three professors, at least two of them belonging to different Departments or Areas of this Faculty and the third from other faculties or universities, national or foreign. The editors will send a letter to the Vice-Deanship of Culture stating the following:

  • the name of the editors, the department to which they belong and their e-mail address;
  • the title of the volume;
  • a brief description of the contents or the lines of the possible works of the volume (it will be taken into account that the possibilities are relatively wide in order to be able to accommodate the teaching staff of the different Departments or Areas);
  • the name of the editor who will act as interlocutor with Quaderns de Filologia's management.

This proposal will be submitted to the Editorial Board and the corresponding response will be communicated to the editor-interlocutor.

3. Letter of invitation to participate

Once the acceptance of the volume has been communicated, the editors of the volume will send a letter to the Vicedeganat de Cultura inviting the professors of the Faculty to participate. 

This letter shall state:

  • Title of the volume and general outline of the papers that can be submitted for the volume.
  • Request to interested parties for:
    1. Article title.
    2. Summary of approximately 30 lines.
    3. Basic bibliography.
    4. Key words
  • Address to which they are to be sent (e-mail address of the editors) and deadline for submission of proposals (between 30 and 60 days).
  • Term of communication of provisional acceptance or rejection of the proposal submitted (approximately one month).
  • Expected date of delivery of the final works (in no case more than 6 months after the communication of the provisional acceptance).

4. Response to the request for work

Once the deadline has passed and the proposals have been reviewed, the editors will inform the professors who have submitted the proposals whether or not their papers have been accepted.

It is the responsibility of the editors to establish acceptance criteria and to prioritize some papers over others, if necessary. Exceptionally, if a greater number of papers are to be included in the monographic volume, the editors may reduce the maximum length of the articles.

If the acceptance response is positive, it is necessary that the editors send the author the rules for submission of papers, and remind the author of the date of delivery of the paper, adjusted as far as possible to these rules.

The complete list of accepted papers must be sent to Quaderns de Filologia.

5. Pick up and delivery of items

The editors will receive the articles and will check that they comply with the rules of presentation and the desirable scientific rigor. If it is found that a paper does not meet the appropriate characteristics, the editors may ask the author, within a maximum period of one month, to rectify the aspects considered by the editors or, even, not to accept the final publication of the article.

The editors will send to the Vice-Deanship of Culture all the papers in computer support and a hard copy, accompanied by an index listing in alphabetical or thematic order the list and distribution of the papers definitively accepted.

It will also be necessary to attach the introduction-presentation, which may be postponed, if preferred, to the time of the first review of the proofs.
If Quaderns de Filologia finds that the articles do not conform to the rules of presentation, it will return the articles to the editor-interlocutor, who undertakes, within a maximum period of fifteen days, to ensure that the rules of presentation are respected.

6. External evaluation of articles

The articles, reviewed and accepted by the editors, will be submitted to a double evaluation, external and internal, anonymous, which will be managed confidentially by the Vice-Deanship of Culture.

In order to carry out this evaluation, the editors will be asked for a list of possible evaluators of the articles, in addition to the names already available for Quaderns de Filologia.

The reviewer will fill out a model report provided by Quaderns de Filologia in which he/she may make comments or corrections to the articles, which must be taken into account for the final publication. The reviewer may even recommend, in a reasoned manner, the non-publication of an article. In the latter case, it will be the responsibility of the editors to consider whether or not to accept it and, ultimately, to verify the introduction of the necessary changes in order to correct the problems of a particular work.

It is the responsibility of the editors to ensure that any comments made by the reviewer are communicated to the authors and taken into account.

The editors, within one month from the moment of the communication of the result of the external evaluation, will send to the Vice-Deanship of Culture the definitive version of those works that have been subject to changes, as well as the possible withdrawal of any of the works presented, if applicable.

7. First test review

Once the external evaluation has been completed and the resulting observations have been taken into account, Quaderns de Filologia will send the editor-interlocutor a first set of proofs to be revised by the authors.
The revision of the proofs may in no case consist of a major modification of the content of the article (e.g., deleting or adding paragraphs or footnotes).

The editors will have one month to carry out this first revision and send it to Quaderns de Filologia.

The correction of proofs will follow the conventional signs of correction that, in any case, will be sent to the authors.

8. Second review of evidence

Once the corrections have been introduced by Quaderns de Filologia, a second set of proofs will be sent to the editor-interlocutor, which, in this case, will be reviewed by the editors.

The editors will have one month to carry out this second revision and send it to Quaderns de Filologia.

9. Final approval of the volume

Once the corrections have been introduced by Quaderns de Filologia, a final printing of the volume will be sent to the editor-interlocutor for final approval and the volume will be sent to the printer.

The editors will have fifteen days to carry out this last revision and send it to Quaderns de Filologia.

10. Sending the volume to the authors

Once the volume has been edited, the editors are responsible for sending it to authors and participants from other centers, for which the Vice-Deanship of Culture will make the necessary volumes available to the editors.

We remind you that the authors of the center, as well as the faculty of the Faculty of Philology can pick up a copy of the volume at the Dean's Office of the Faculty. The Vice-Deanship, for its part, sends a certain number of volumes to the Publications Service for distribution, as well as to all the centers and publications with which it maintains a publications exchange relationship.
