The former science laboratories were built behind the Faculty of Science, currently the Rectorate, in order to expand the services and facilities of this Faculty.

The building is the work of architect Fernando Moreno Barberá, and follows a very similar logic to that of the other buildings he constructed for the Universitat de València between the late 1950s and well into the 1960s. It is built in the form of a prism, measuring 74 x 12 m, with different facades in each direction. The south wall is composed of concrete brise soleil on the upper floors. The vertical divisions of the north wall, which faces Calle Menéndez Pelayo, are marked by visible reinforced concrete pillars, with alternating panels of vitreous glass mosaic, large windows and glass block curtains.

The former laboratories complete a coherent whole comprising the former Faculty of Law and Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, together with the Schools of Agricultural Engineering and Public Accountants. Taken together, they comprise one of the finest Mid-Century Modern repertoires in the Valencia province.
