The Universitat de València pushes forward the digital transformation of its technical maintenance with the implementation of a CMMS on all its campuses.
Valencia, June 2025 — The Universitat de València is carrying out a profound transformation in the technical management of its infrastructures through the implementation of a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System), born to centralise, digitalise and optimise all maintenance activities of the university buildings.
This ambitious project, promoted by the Technical and Maintenance Service (STM), belongs to a broader strategic plan of organisation, modernisation and continuous improvement, thought to strengthen the quality, sustainability and efficiency of the service throughout all the university community.
Beginning in 2024, the project has reached a new staged with the progressive inclusion of all the campuses, which allowed to consolidate its deployment and to begin operating with an integrated vision of all the physical assets of the university.
The implementation strategy contemplates a trial period for each campus, allowing for the validation of processes, data structures and operative coordination prior to its global launch. The goal is to reach a state of complete production, guaranteeing traceability, efficiency and total control of the park of university assets.
The scale of this integration meant months of specialised technical work, dedicated to the identification, structuring and digitalisation of thousands of elements, from extinguishers or emergency buttons, to more complex constructive components such as handrails, coverings or structural claddings.
One of the most innovative elements of the system is the incorporation of semi-automatic digitalisation mechanisms, which will allow to speed up the integration of new assets, thus facilitating the constant update of the system in a university that is constantly evolving through works, extensions and remodelling.
“The implementation of a CMMS throughout all the Universitat de València represents a qualitative jump towards an efficient management of maintenance, aligned with our goals of sustainability, digitalisation and service to the university community. Additionally, it will allow us to optimise the available resources and predict future needs with greater precision, fundamental for an efficient and responsible management of public expense”, highlighted Cristina Mateo, Head of the Technical and Maintenance Service.
This process has been made possible in part thanks to the close collaboration between all the integral maintenance companies that currently provide their services in the multiple university campuses:
- Blasco Ibáñez Campus – Urbia
- Burjassot Campus – Serveo
- Tarongers Campus – Elecnoir
- Paterna Campus and ETSE – Acsa/Sorigué
-
Disseminats Campus – Acsa/Sorigué
The first meeting of the project coordination team took place last Friday, 27 June, at the headquarters of the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València. From this date on, a dynamic of periodical implementation and following meetings will be stablished, in which will participate the technical teams of the STM as well as the companies responsible for the integral maintenance. This shared work framework will guarantee an implementation that is organised, effective and aligned with the strategic goals of the service.
With this initiative, the Universitat de València reaffirms its commitment to excellence in public management, technological innovation and the modernisation of technical services, consolidating itself as a role model within the Spanish university world.
