VSCS01 Promote the sustainability of the University of Valencia and raise awareness among our university community

Sustainability at the university level must include the sustainable use of resources in order to safeguard the development of the university and its transcendence over time as an institution. However, it must also ensure that the measures adopted within the university have a positive effect on society as a whole, which is one of the university’s main functions. In this context, the UV has set out to address numerous areas, including energy efficiency and mobility, waste management, fair and local trade, curricular sustainability, health and community awareness, and the promotion of new alliances.

LAEVSCS01 Improve sustainability by promoting the values of sustainable mobility and energy efficiency and reducing the UV’s carbon footprint.

VSCS02 Promote the values of healthy living and prevention

Health education and the Healthy Environments Approach are fundamental to promoting health. This implies a multidisciplinary approach to health promotion and disease prevention in places or social contexts where people engage in daily activities and where organisational, personal and environmental factors interact on health and well-being. The health of our planet and all its ecosystems must also be considered. The ‘One Health’ concept has advanced strongly to highlight this interdependence. This objective includes acquiring health indicators in our university environment by promoting surveys on health problems and their determinants.

LAEVSCS04 Encourage the practice of healthy physical activity and sports in the workplace by developing a health promotion programme, establishing health monitoring programmes, and promoting guided physical activity in the workplace.

VSCS03 Promote the values of cooperation

The aim of university cooperation for development is to plan and implement activities aimed at social transformation in the most disadvantaged countries in order to promote peace, equity, human development and environmental sustainability in the world, a transformation in which the strengthening of institutions and academia play an important role. To achieve this objective, we aim to consolidate our collaboration with NGOs in order to create interdisciplinary cooperation teams and develop mechanisms for promoting cooperation in those countries of action contemplated in the Generalitat de Valencia’s 5th Master Plan for Cooperation.

LAEVSCS06 Promote fair and local trade and update sustainable public procurement procedures.
